The Technics EAH-AZ70W will be available in Australia from mid-July 2020 via selected audio specialist retailers, priced at $449 RRP.

10-mm Diameter Driver Unit and Original Acoustic Design

The large diameter 10-mm dynamic driver delivers a broad soundstage with rich bass, while the graphene-coated PEEK diaphragm reduces vibration for clear, elegant sound. The Acoustic Control Chamber is precisely designed to control air flow and optimise the balance of each frequency. An expansive sound is generated with smooth, detailed highs and tight, articulate bass.

Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology

The EAH-AZ70W employs two systems to deliver an impressive noise cancelling effect for the True Wireless category. To allow listeners to fully engage with their music, unwanted ambient noise is minimised.

Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling incorporates Feedforward Noise Cancelling (FF-NC) and Feedback Noise Cancelling (FB-NC) – using microphones to respectively combat noise from outside and inside the ear, along with a combination of analogue and digital processing to cancel noise effectively.

Stable Bluetooth Connection

Conventional true wireless headphones can cause brief interruptions of Bluetooth connection in crowded locations. The EAH-AZ70W offers extremely reliable Bluetooth connectivity to ensure uninterrupted listening.

The earphones’ small size is achieved with the integration of a Bluetooth antenna and a touch sensor inside the control section; while improved connection stability is realised by Technics’ proprietary design, which maximises antenna performance even in a small product cabinet.

The Left-Right Independent Signalling System maintains a stable connection with the correct sound balance between right and left channels, so listeners can enjoy an immersive content experience in a range of environments.

Excellent Call Sound Quality

The EAH-AZ70W is designed for clear call quality. High-performance MEMS microphones use a unique built-in labyrinth cabinet structure to suppress wind noise and improve noise cancelling performance. In addition, a beam-forming technology enables voices to be efficiently delivered while suppressing ambient noise.

Ambient Sound Mode

Simply tapping the touch sensor switches to Ambient Sound mode when the user wants to hear external sounds such as voices while listening to music and without taking the earpiece out. By tapping the sensor for two seconds, the user can switch between “Noise Cancelling”, “Ambient Sound” and “OFF”.

Compact Design

The rounded body fits comfortably in the ears for extended use. A massive amount of 3D ear data was used to optimise the design of the angle and length of the sound ports. The EAH-AZ70W features a splash-proof performance equivalent to IPX4[i].

Long-lasting Battery

When fully charged, the battery provides up to 6.5 hours of continuous playback (when noise cancellation is turned ON). In addition, the charging cradle can be fully charged twice, allowing up to 19.5 hours of playback.

Voice Assistant Compatible (Siri®/ Google Assistant™/ Alexa)

Voice assistant smartphone functions such as Siri and Google Assistant can be activated by operating the earphones’ touch sensor. Amazon Alexa can be activated with the Alexa mobile app, and later this year, will also be available via the touch sensor[ii].

SL-1210GAE product features

Coreless Direct Drive Motor

Conventional analogue turntables have problems with degradation in sound quality caused by factors such as minute speed vibration during rotation and rotation irregularity called ‘cogging’. In the SL-1210GAE, the use of a coreless direct-drive motor with no iron core eliminates cogging. Also, the twin-rotor construction reduces the bearing load while maintaining high torque, and also reduces minute vibration during rotation. These factors enable reproduction of the warm, exquisitely detailed sound etched on analogue records.

High-Precision Motor Control Technology

The application of motor control technology developed for Blu-ray devices, and switching the drive mode depending on the operational status of the motor, achieves a high starting torque and high speed stability for optimum playback.

Three-layered Turntable Platter

The turntable features a three-layered construction with a rigidly combined brass top-plate, an aluminium die cast core platter and a solid rubber coating covering its entire rear surface to eliminate unwanted resonance, thereby achieving overall superior rigidity and vibration damping. This delivers smooth rotational stability and high inertial mass surpassing the SP-10MK2 (the direct-drive turntable standard used by broadcast stations worldwide), as well as having more than twice the inertial mass of the SL-1200MK5.

High-level Balance Adjustment

When the weight distribution of the turntable is uneven, excess vibration or noise occurs during rotation, which causes degradation in sound quality. To counteract this, the balance of the turntable is adjusted at the factory by using specialised high-precision balance adjustment equipment for each and every item after the turntable is assembled. Turntables that have undergone adjustment are labelled with a sticker reading ‘BALANCED’ to indicate that individual adjustment has been done.

High Sensitivity Tonearm

The tonearm employs lightweight magnesium which has a high damping effect, with cold drawing improving the characteristics of the material and achieving the high-precision required. In addition, high initial-motion sensitivity is attained by employing the traditional Technics gimbal suspension construction with the horizontal rotation axis and the vertical rotation axis intersecting at a single central point, as well as high-precision bearings using a cut-processed housing.

High-Quality Terminals

The use of brass-milled and gold-plated phono terminals and ground terminals prevents degradation in sound quality while enabling the easy attaching and detaching of cables. Also, the use of metal shielding construction inside the case reduces the effects of external noise.

Four-layered Cabinet Construction

A hairline-processed, 10mm-thick black top panel of immaculate aluminium is added to a three-layered construction of aluminium die-cast, BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound), and heavyweight-class rubber. This four-layered construction combines the high rigidity necessary for superb vibration damping with a superior solid build and a luxurious finish and feel.

The new lens adds to its credentials with a rugged dust/splash-resistant[i] design to withstand use under harsh conditions down to a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius. In addition, a fluorine coating on the front lens element repels water and oil.

Comprising 11 elements in 9 groups, the use of 2 aspherical lenses and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses effectively suppresses both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Astigmatism is also corrected with these aspherical lenses, achieving high resolving performance. Furthermore, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to edges of the image while contributing to downsizing of the lens unit. The filter diameter is 67 mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm.

[i]Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this camera is subjected to direct contact with dust and water. To avoid damage when using the lens under these conditions, it must be used in accordance with the associated instructions in the manual.

Sea Life and Panasonic Bring the Magic of the Underwater World Into Homes Across Australia

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium has teamed up with Panasonic to live stream some amazing underwater sea creatures – giving viewers the chance to experience all the marine magic in high definition from the comfort of their home.

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium are using the Panasonic x2000 video camera to create a virtual aquarium – live streaming playtime and feeding time with a diverse range of appealing marine and terrestrial life, via their Facebook page.

With an audience of over 127,000 SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium sought to brighten up newsfeeds and educate fans both young and old – from spontaneous moments such as a dugong getting a belly rub, to learning the science behind a coral reef.

“We wanted to give people a closer experience than ever before, whilst also providing families who are stuck indoors, with resources, materials and fun topics to talk about. Working with Panasonic, we are able to bring the vibrant underwater world to life on screens big and small around Australia. We are thrilled that our viewers can dive into our world and enjoy uninterrupted, professional quality live streams at the click of a button,” said Richard Dilly, General Manager, SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

Since March this year, viewers have been enjoying watching fascinating animals get fed, keepers playing with animals, and taking advantage of the opportunity to listen to expert aquarists and having their questions answered live on video. However, the most popular content so far has been the penguin live stream aired in the first week of April which received over 100,000 views and around 3,000 comments. Overall, Facebook followers have increased by 35 per cent since live streaming began.

To catch the next live stream from SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Panasonic head to: https://www.facebook.com/sydneyaquarium/.

Mother of three, Kasey Weir from Brisbane is a big fan of the SEA LIFE live streams and insists that they are a life-saver while at home during isolation:

“The live streams are such a joy to watch and the whole family learns so much about the beautiful creatures. The best part is that you really feel like you are out of the house and there with the animals – my kids actually wave at the screen!” said Kasey.

Ayla aged 7 and Maisie aged 3 watching turtles on SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium’s Live Stream

Powering the stunning underwater display is Panasonic’s X2000 video camera, a convenient, ‘plug and play’ solution for SEA LIFE. The camera is able to connect to Wi-Fi and directly live stream content online in HD quality, without the need for extra equipment. Other features perfect for live streaming include 4k recording, high resolution audio, a wide-angle + zoom lens and precision face detection.

The professional technology is a hit for SEA LIFE staff who can focus more on the animal interaction and less on technical issues.

“Lighting and poor sound quality are two big issues we have when filming in the aquarium. Having a professional set up like Panasonic’s X2000 has meant we are able to produce better quality live streams then just using our mobile phones. Plus, the zoom lens allows us to capture amazing detail – whether it be penguins calling in the middle of the stream to a turtle spraying water out of his nostrils directly into the camera!” said Emma Malik, Supervisor – Animal Training & Guest Interaction, SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

Following the success of the live streams, SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium has also launched Tank TV – a 24-hour live stream using Panasonic’s AW-UE4 pan-tilt-zoom camera to showcase different parts of the aquarium on their website. The aquarium has been thrilled by the response, which allows the guests to connect at any time for experiences such as the Great Barrier Reef exhibit. This camera was also simple to install and was up and streaming within a day.

Richard Dilly sees live streaming as a trend that will continue even when the aquarium re-opens its doors:

“The ability to live stream has been massively engaging not only for our guests, but also for our teams – we’ve been telling our aquarists for years that they are the stars of the show, and all of a sudden they’re hitting internet fame talking about their favourite subjects! We have found a new medium and a new way of achieving our purposes – you can’t come to us? No worries, we’ll come to you!”

HC-X1500

Key features supporting high-quality recording

Powerful optical performance for precise shooting

The camcorders’ integrated lens has a 24x optical zoom ranging from 25mm wide angle to 600mm tele. i.ZOOM achieves 32x at 4K resolution, and 48x at FHD. The 4-Drive Lens System drives four lens groups independently for a powerful zoom in a compact body.

The LEICA Dicomar lens meets the stringent criteria of Leica Camera AG to deliver precise resolution and contrast, producing stunning images while suppressing flaring and ghosts. Two Manual Rings are provided, one for focusing and the other for zoom or iris operation. The rings are different sizes so it’s easy to select and control the right ring at a touch. ND Filters can be selected from 1/4, 1/16, 1/64, and Clear; and the use of glass protects against scorching from sunlight condensation.

5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S. for stable image acquisition

In both UHD and FHD modes, in addition to O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilisation), Electronic Image Stabilisation operates to detect and correct handshake in 5 axes, including rotational blurring, to produce stable images at 24x optical zoom. This provides strong correction under unstable conditions, from low-angle to high-angle shooting. A Ball O.I.S. System reduces friction on the drive section, achieving delicate correction even for small-amplitude handshake.

Super slow-motion recording expands creative expression

FHD mode offers slow-motion recording at 120 fps (for 59.94 Hz) and 100 fps (for 50 Hz). 10-bit recording is supported, and full sensor area images are obtained even at high frame rates. Auto focus can be used during slow-motion recording.

High-performance processor delivers versatile recording modes

Panasonic’s high-performance Venus Engine processor achieves 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording with maximum 29.97p in UHD, and maximum 59.94p in FHD.

When set for 10-bit recording, the camcorder delivers 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output, enabling high image quality capture with an external recorder. New, highly efficient HEVC recording (LongGOP/10-bit 4:2:0/MOV) is also supported for recording 59.94p at a high bit rate of 200 Mbps.

In addition to MOV, MP4, and AVCHD, the AG-CX10 will also support P2 MXF[iv], and AVC-Intra/AVC-LongG codec recording after a free future update (timing to be announced).

High-speed, high-precision AF including Face Detection AF/AE

Superior focusing speed, stability and tracking performance for both 4K and Full HD is achieved thanks to Face Detection AF/AE together with the precise focus lens drive.
In addition, precise subject tracking, with skin tone recognition to distinguish between faces and backgrounds, can be activated by touching the LCD panel.

Features to streamline professional camera work

Versatile network functions expand user workflow

A Wi-Fi module is built-in, so there is no need for a separate wireless LAN module. Using a tablet application HC ROP, wireless remote control, including camera settings and lens control, can be set. RTSP/RTP/RTMP/RTMPS-Compatible HD Streaming allows direct connection and streaming over Facebook, YouTube, etc., of content such as concerts, sports events, and news flashes.

In addition, the AG-CX10 is NDI/HX compatible. When a paid third party activated key (details and pricing to be announced) is downloaded, NDI/HX[v] mode can be enabled.  This allows data transmission and camera control via IP connection without an external converter, thanks to the AG-CX10’s wired LAN capability.

Other network features:

  • 3G-SDI for connecting to an external recorder (AG-CX10, HC-X2000)
  • USB (micro AB) to LAN Conversion Adaptor and USB micro AB-Host Cable included (AG-CX10)
  • Compatibility with wired remote controls via the remote terminal

Enhanced viewing and monitoring

A bright video light[vi] is built into the handle of the HC-X2000 and AG-CX10, adjustable from 30% to 100% using the dimmer dial. For shooting in even darker conditions, commercially available infrared (IR lights) are supported[vii]. The 3.5-inch monitor has 2,760K-dot resolution, providing enhanced viewing under bright sunlight. An electrostatic touch panel improves operating ease when selecting menu items. The 1,555K-dot tiltable viewfinder (EVF) and LCD output simultaneously, offering faster image confirmation to improve work efficiency. Also, to support fast, accurate manual focusing, Focus Assist functions include Expand, Peaking and One-push AF. The included battery does not protrude when attached and enables around 4.5 hours of continual operation.

Double SD Card Slot for seamless recording

Two SD memory card slots are provided. With Unlimited Relay Recording, the recording media switches automatically and seamlessly from Slot 1 to Slot 2[viii]. Simultaneous Recording and Background Recording are also selectable.

48-kHz/24-bit High Resolution Linear PCM Audio Recording

The handle of the HC-X2000 and AG-CX10 provides +48V Phantom Power Supply/MIC/LINE Selectable XLR Audio Input with manual volume controls, available for each of the 2 channels. Also supported are a 24-bit linear PCM system (MOV/P2 MXF – AG-CX10 only), 16-bit AAC (MP4), or Dolby Audio system (AVCHD) high-quality 2-channel audio recording. Luke Bowditch, Marketing Manager, Store DJ, said: “We are proud to be offering the SL-1210MK7. Technics turntables are the most iconic piece of DJ technology ever, and this latest incarnation is the best one yet.”

The SL-1210MK7 will be available from November 2019, priced at $1749RRP via Store DJ in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

About the Technics 1200 Series

The SL-1200 was launched as a popular direct drive turntable in 1972, becoming a best-selling model with cumulative sales of 3,500,000 units. It was supported by powerful torque, easy operation, and high durability. It became greatly admired by both audio enthusiasts and DJs who helped to unleash the DJ culture in areas such as electronic dance music. The series is still highly acclaimed by DJs worldwide today.

The Technics SL-1210MK7 inherits the traditional design of the same series and maintains the same operating ease, reliability and unrivalled durability, while adding a coreless direct drive motor and other sound-enhancing technologies. It also features new DJ play functions, such as reverse playback.

All you expect from Technics and more

Coreless Direct Drive Motor achieving stable rotation and powerful torque

The direct drive system uses a slow-rotating motor to directly drive the platter. This system has various advantages. It offers high performance, such as rotation accuracy and powerful torque, does not require replacement of parts and maintains high reliability over a long period of time. However, the direct drive system was said to occasionally produce a rotation irregularity called cogging. For the SL-1210MK7, a new coreless direct drive motor was developed. This motor employs a coreless stator. The removal of the iron core from the stator eliminated the root cause of cogging. Furthermore, the magnetic force of the rotor magnets was improved to the highest possible level, and the gap between the coreless stator and rotor magnets was optimised, thus achieving high torque performance equalling that of the SL-1200MK5. Boasting smooth rotation and powerful torque, this motor accurately and faithfully reproduces sound from the groove on an analogue record.

Reverse Play function expands the breadth of DJ play styles

The platter rotates in the reverse direction when the speed selector button and Start/Stop button are pressed simultaneously, expanding the breadth of possibility for DJ play styles.[i]

Starting Torque/Brake speed adjustment function

The SL-1210MK7 employs the newest motor control technology, refined through the development of Panasonic Blu-ray disc products. Utilising a microcomputer, this advanced motor control technology ensures high performance in normal rotation and also responds accurately to a wide range of DJ play styles, such as scratching. The starting torque and brake speed can be adjusted individually to suit the user’s preference.

Stylus Illuminator featuring a high-brightness and long-life LED

The stylus illuminator features a new push-type structure and employs a high-brightness and long-life white LED. The illumination area and intensity were reviewed to provide improved visibility of the stylus tip compared to previous models, even in a dark environment.

Improved tracking performance and accuracy for high-quality sound reproduction

Highly sensitive tonearm accurately reads the signal stored in the record groove

The tonearm, which is responsible for accurately reading the signal by tracking the groove on the record, is a static-balance universal S-shape tonearm, another Technics tradition. The tonearm tube is made of lightweight, high-rigidity aluminium. The bearing section of the gimbal suspension construction tonearm consists of a machined housing and high-precision bearing to assure excellent tracking performance with minimum stylus jumping, even in harsh playing conditions such as scratching.

Two-layer structure platter with improved vibration damping performance

The platter on which a vinyl record is placed features a two-layer structure with deadening rubber on the entire back surface to eliminate unwanted resonance in the aluminium die-cast platter. The platter offers high rigidity and outstanding vibration-damping characteristics to prevent harmful vibration from being transmitted to the record and delivers clear sound.

High rigidity cabinet and high damping insulator for thorough shut-out of all vibrations

The chassis, an essential part for reducing external vibrations, inherits the audio quality enhancement technology fostered through the development of high-end turntables. The aluminium die-cast chassis is rigidly integrated with a special material consisting of ABS mixed with glass fibre to achieve a two-layer construction. The combination of this special high-rigidity material and a metal chassis raised the rigidity and vibration-damping performance to higher levels, realising a robust cabinet for beautiful sound reproduction.

The insulator is comprised of a spring and rubber to provide optimal frequency characteristics. This not only assures high sound quality and superb howling resistance, but also effectively shuts out external vibrations under high sound level conditions.

Detachable Power/Phono cable terminals prevents cable discontinuity

The power and phono cable terminals allow detachment of the cables. They are gold-plated to minimise sound quality degradation. Maintenance of the cables is easier, and your preferred phono cable can be used for optimum personal enjoyment.

Pitch control function enables accurate and stable pitch adjustment

The rotation speed can be set to 33-1/3 rpm, 45 rpm or 78 rpm[ii]. The pitch control function allows fine adjustment of the rotation speed within ±8%/±16%. This function achieves accurate and stable pitch control thanks to full digital control with improved tracking performance and accuracy.

All black design

The SL-1210MK7 sports black buttons and a black tonearm while retaining the SL-1200 Series’ button layout. With a striking matt texture, the new all-black design presents an attractive, refined appearance. The LED light can be set to illuminate in either red or blue, further enhancing the DJ play environment.

[i]To use the reverse play function, the switch on the main unit must be turned on. The phono cartridge used must support scratch play.

[ii]To use the 78 rpm speed, the switch on the main unit must be turned on
