Panasonic to preview 4K laser projector and digital signage solutions at Integrate 2016

Panasonic previews 4K laser projector for large-venue entertainment, ‘space player’ hybrid spotlight/projector for retail and exhibition displays, and ‘Light ID’ to link smartphones with digital signage

Panasonic Australia will preview its latest display and digital signage solutions for applications from event production to retail displays, at the upcoming Integrate exhibition from 23-25 August, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

The flagship PT-RQ32K 3-Chip DLP™ SOLID SHINE Laser 4K+ projector is perfect for large-venue entertainment applications. Offering an impressive 27,000 lm maximum brightness (center-screen, high mode operation) at 5120 x 3200-pixel (4K+) resolution, this all-in-one projector incorporates Quad Pixel Drive technology which creates extra pixels vertically and horizontally, quadrupling pixel density and rendering the finest details in exquisite 4K+ resolution. The need for custom mounting-frames has also been eliminated with new frame-free stacking or i-bolt rigging capability, reducing overall weight for less costly transportation, which also makes it easier to support multi-projection mapping applications at large events.

Chris Maw, Product Manager, Projectors, Panasonic, said: “Delivering spectacular visuals from fast action scenes to film-like text and graphic reproduction, the PT-RQ32K is ideal for rental and staging, projection mapping and large-venue theatres. With a dust-resistant optical drive, dual laser modules with failsafe backup protection, liquid cooling and long life filter, the projector combines reliability and low-maintenance with the outstanding performance these applications demand.”

At Integrate, Panasonic will also demonstrate the PT-RZ970 laser projector in conjunction with software that uses an externally connected camera to significantly shorten adjustment time for multi- or curved screen projections, supporting the creation of seamless edge blended, colour-matched and geometrically adjusted images.

The company will preview a new ‘Space Player’ hybrid spotlight and laser projection device. Available in black or white, the Space Player is a compact cylinder that resembles a regular shop spotlight but can highlight in-store displays by blending video, stills, graphics, and text-based digital signage with multiple spotlighting effects in virtually any combination desired. Thanks to a flexible universal joint, Space Player can project in all directions below its horizontal axis, and is mountable on conventional lighting tracks, making installation and relocation easy. Data is stored on SD Card, and ‘Space Player’ can be updated over a wi-fi network, including capabilities such as Intel® Pro WiDi to mirror screens of supported mobile devices and PCs. Other applications include museums, showrooms, hotels, function halls, exhibitions, or in any area where spotlighting is used to capture attention.

Panasonic will also showcase the newly-developed ‘Light ID’ technology, available in early 2017, which enables simple sharing of content for information, entertainment, guidance and advertising, using LED display technology.

Panasonic Light ID links smartphones with digital signage. It provides detailed information through modulating LEDs at a speed unperceivable to the human eye. The system uses a dedicated mobile app to instantly share content between Light ID transmitters, such as displays and LED signboards, to smartphones.

This system enables the transmission of Light IDs from a display using high-speed backlight control technology. This can be achieved through a compatible set-top box (STB) linked to the display, or through inbuilt media players using a USB memory device.

A single display can provide a variety of information to smartphones, and has applications in tourist areas for instance, where information to help visitors navigate an airport, train station or shopping arcade could be delivered in multiple languages. In museums, detailed exhibit information and voice guidance could be provided using smartphones or tablets.

In addition, Panasonic will demonstrate its easy to set up digital signage solution, the ‘System on a Chip’ AF1 display series of 55 inch LED panels. The AF1 Series features an Android™ and HTML5-based OpenPort Platform™ and is equipped with a 1GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. It substitutes expensive external ‘Wintel’ systems which also require cabling, additional mounts and installation.

An inbuilt media player and Wi-Fi® capability also greatly reduce cabling complexity and eliminate the need for an external player device if simple play back of videos and photos is required. The display’s open API allows users to control the displays through third party software running on the open port platform.

Chris Maw added: ”This platform streamlines the process every customer has to go through in order to implement their digital signage system. Working with systems integrators, it’s possible to control an entire 24/7 digital sign network from the AF1 Series – such as building-wide LED signs including lighting, audio, and show control – using one comprehensive cloud based interface.”

As a global leader in home appliance technology, Panasonic has expanded its popular range of refrigerators with a new collection of stylish and innovative models. The new range combines sophisticated design with the latest advancements in keeping food fresh, energy–saving technologies, user-¬friendly convenience, and improved storage.

Key details:

  • Panasonic’s new French Door model features a stunning full-flat glass panel, free from frames for a seamless finish
  • Selected new BX Series models feature innovative ‘Prime Fresh’ technology which maintains the flavour, texture and nutrients of produce
  • The ‘Vitaminsafe’ vegetable case featured in the French Door model uses blue and green LED lights to ensure fruit and vegetables stay fresher for longer
  • Panasonic’s unique energy saving ECONAVI and Inverter technologies save consumers energy and money
  • Panasonic has released five new refrigerators including a 547 litre French Door model; and the new 450L and 407L BX Series.

Panasonic Refrigerators include smart technologies to keep food fresher for longer

Consumers will enjoy Panasonic’s ‘Prime Fresh’ technology, which is a key feature of selected BX Series models. This revolutionary new refrigeration technology softly freezes fresh meat and seafood to approximately ¬-3˚C. Since food is only lightly frozen, it extends the life of perishable food, whilst maintaining nutrients, flavour and texture. Odours are also minimised, ideal for storing seafood and other strong smelling food. ‘Prime Fresh’ offers food preparation convenience as it’s easy to slice and cook it immediately.

The range’s new easy-access, centralised vegetable case ensures produce is stored in optimum conditions thanks to an airtight design. This keeps humidity levels high, up to 91 per cent, and prevents produce from drying out.

In addition, the French Door model has a ‘Vitaminsafe’ vegetable case which uses blue and green LED lights to mimic the sun, ensuring the nutrients of fruit and vegetables are protected, so they stay fresher for longer. Underneath, the chilled case maintains a temperature of 0˚C to preserve the freshness of chilled foods, without freezing them. It’s perfect for storing meat, fish and dairy products.

All models feature surround cooling which evenly distributes chilled air from the rear panel throughout the refrigerator for gentle cooling without dehydrating food and to maintain a constant temperature. The powerful Ag antibacterial and deodorising filter cleans circulated air, minimising mould and bacteria, and unpleasant odours.

ECONAVI technology for effortless energy savings

Inside, consumers will find Panasonic’s clever energy¬-saving ECONAVI and Inverter technologies, which have been designed to save consumers energy and money, whilst delivering an advanced cooling performance.

Exclusive to Panasonic, ECONAVI technology uses four intelligent sensors to monitor usage patterns, and energy output is then adapted accordingly. This revolutionary technology allows your fridge to monitor the level of lighting and temperature in the room, when and how often the fridge doors are opened, and the fridge’s internal temperature. It then analyses and responds to this information to maintain cooling and the most efficient operation of your fridge.

Premium, sleek, modern and functional design

Panasonic’s new premium refrigerators have a sleek, modern and flat design, which will perfectly complement any kitchen.

The stunning French Door model features a transparent full¬-flat glass panel overlaid on a stainless colour backing, free from frames, bumps or depressions, to create a seamless finish. The stylish recessed curved handles match the flat design.

The Electrostatic Touch Control Panel on selected models has a striking mirror finish and also gives consumers complete control over settings and temperature levels.

The French Door refrigerator features Panasonic’s popular full-¬extension bottom freezer drawer, which sits low, making it incredibly easy to put in and take out food, and see items in the freezer. All new refrigerator models benefit from having separate cases in the freezer which offer tidy storage, as well as minimising food odours.

Mr Emile Redden, Group Manager, Home Appliances and Air Conditioning, Panasonic, says: “We have drawn on our extensive history of over 50 years in refrigeration innovation to create these advanced models. The new Panasonic range is designed to improve user convenience, and offer effortless temperature control, as well as save energy and money in the home.

“With a sleek and sophisticated design, coupled with a wide range of outstanding features and technologies, these fridges are perfect for Australian households.”

Aussies rate Panasonic their favourite brand for air conditioning

Canstar Blue releases Air Conditioners – Customer Satisfaction Ratings

Whether it’s for cooling in summer or heating in winter, Australians would be lost without air conditioning. But with so many options to choose from, how do you know which brand is best for your home comfort?

To answer that question, Canstar Blue annually surveys hundreds of households who have recently purchased and installed a new air conditioning unit, asking them to rate their brand on a number of important variables, including ease of use, reliability, quietness and value for money.

Seven big name brands featured in the final results, but only Panasonic scored five stars for overall customer satisfaction, in addition to every other category.

Canstar Blue Customer Satisfied Ratings – Air Conditioners

Canstar-Blue-Ratings-2016

It means Panasonic joins Daikin and Fujitsu General in claiming the award for air conditioners twice in the six years of these ratings. Panasonic last topped the ratings table in 2014.

“Panasonic is a pioneer of air conditioning innovation, with its broad range of products coming equipped with a number of highly impressive features,” said Head of Canstar Blue, Megan Doyle. “No doubt these features are impressing consumers, but Panasonic is also still delivering on the basics – namely that its air conditioners are easy to use and reliable, while also representing good value for money.

“This year’s result means Panasonic has joined an elite group of brands which have achieved our award for air conditioners twice since the category was launched in 2011. These ratings should give consumers who buy a Panasonic air conditioner confidence that they are getting a quality product.”

Joe De Bella, Product Marketing Manager, Air Conditioning, Panasonic, said: “Panasonic Australia is delighted that its air conditioners have received a five star rating across the board from Australian consumers. Canstar Blue is a gold standard in customer satisfaction ratings in Australia, and this award is a great recognition of consumer confidence in our brand.

“Panasonic prides itself on the products that it launches in all categories, and air conditioning is no exception. Our air conditioning products are put through a stringent array of tests for comfort and durability before being released into the market.

“This, along with a host of features which give great benefits to the consumer, and our dedicated after sales service, have contributed to winning this award in such an emphatic way.”

Consumer behaviour

The Canstar Blue survey, of 635 Australian households who have purchased a new air conditioner in the last three years, found an average spend of $1,900. It also revealed a strong focus on energy efficiency, with 44% of respondents declaring it their number one purchase decision factor, compared with 42% who were driven by price. In addition, eight out of ten households (82%) who were replacing an old system said their new one is more energy efficient.

However, it seems that not everyone is getting the best possible results from their air conditioners, with many households failing to clean their units, which could result in increased power consumption. Four out of ten (41%) survey respondents admitted they have never cleaned the internal filter of their air conditioner, while 37% have never cleaned in or around the external unit.

About this research

Canstar Blue commissioned Colmar Brunton to survey 3,000 Australian consumers. The customer ratings for air conditioners are based on the responses of 635 adults who have purchased a new system in the last three years.

About Canstar Blue

Canstar Blue was launched in July of 2010 by CANSTAR – Australia and New Zealand’s premier researcher of retail finance information for more than 350 institutions across the finance sector. Canstar Blue measures and tracks Australian and New Zealand consumer satisfaction across over 100 different categories to help consumers make the best purchasing decisions for their needs.

What are the Canstar Blue ratings?

Canstar Blue researches, compares and rates products and services according to customer satisfaction across categories including banking, telecommunications, appliances, electronics, utilities and FMCG. Results are freely available to consumers who are encouraged to use the ratings as a guide to product excellence. The full range of results can be seen on the Canstar Blue website at www.canstarblue.com.au.

Panasonic unveils LEICA DG SUMMILUX 12mm/F1.4 ASPH. (H-X012) 24mm* Ultra Wide-Angle F1.4 High-Speed Single Focal Length Lens

Meeting professional needs with high image quality, durability and style

*35mm camera equivalent

Panasonic has unveiled the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 12mm/F1.4 ASPH. (35 mm camera equivalent: 24 mm) – the latest addition to the company’s range of powerful and compact interchangeable lenses for LUMIX G Micro Four Thirds system cameras.

Doug Campbell, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic, said:

“The new H-X012 is a precisely engineered lens that will be a joy to use. It delivers the exceptional imaging capabilities you’d expect from a LEICA lens, and this attention to quality is also reflected in the construction and styling. Weather sealing with a splash and dust-proof design, plus a metal lens mount, barrel and hood ensure long-term durability and performance.”

The F1.4 large aperture supports low-light and astrophotography as well as demanding video applications, and produces an impressive, natural defocusing effect. The 24mm wide angle has appeal from dramatic landscape shots to architecture and drone photography. An aperture ring provides direct, intuitive control.

The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 12mm/F1.4 ASPH. will be available in Australia in August, priced at RRP$1,799.

With an inner focus drive system and a stepping motor, the new LEICA DG SUMMILUX 12mm/F1.4 ASPH. is capable of smooth, silent operation together with Panasonic’s high-speed, high-precision Depth from Defocus (DFD) technology for both photo and video recording. DFD supports the precise focusing essential for recording 4K video.

Integrating two aspherical lenses, two UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses and an ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lens, the lens system comprises 15 elements in 12 groups. The adoption of five special lenses makes it possible to clear the stringent LEICA standard for exceptional image quality with high resolution and minimum distortion. Nine blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.

As digital music streaming booms – with downloads and streaming now accounting for 62 per cent of Australian recorded music – the new range offers a number of options for music lovers, wherever they are and whatever their tastes .

ALL Connected Audio: ALL Music. ALL Sources. ALL Rooms.

Panasonic’s ALL Connected Audio products have been developed to provide ease of use and exceptional sound quality throughout the home, enabling you to re-stream to other connected speakers from a range of audio sources, including CD, mobile devices, online music services, DAB+ radio, and Bluetooth Auxiliary.

The ALL Connected systems combine outstanding performance, style and versatility. Both the new products offer WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, with the SC-ALL7CD also incorporating USB, CD and DAB/FM radio functionality.

The ALL Connected Audio multi-room functionality is powered by Qualcomm’s smart media platform, ALL Connected Audio. Using an existing WiFi network, you can quickly and easily set up a series of connected speakers throughout the home, controlled by an intuitive mobile app. The Panasonic Music Streaming App lets you stream music from a wide range of music platforms, including the likes of Spotify and Qualcomm ALL Connected Audio Radio powered by TuneIn. Furthermore, you can stream via WiFi to any ALL Connected  Audio device, and then with Panasonic’s innovative

Bluetooth Re-streaming feature you can then share this music to other compatible speakers around the home.

The soundtrack to your day

The SC-ALL05 has a waterproof design (IPX7/IPX5) and a 8.5 hour built-in battery, so you can enjoy amazing quality connected audio in the bathroom or kitchen without worrying about splash damage. The speaker’s 20W power output packs more than enough punch to fill your room with your favourite songs, while the combination of two full range speakers and two passive radiators ensure clear and consistent sound quality.

Access all your music

The SC-ALL7CD gives your network of ALL Connected Audio speakers access to a wide range of audio sources. In addition to re-streaming via the Panasonic Music Streaming app, you can also playback via CD, USB, radio or use the SC-ALL7CD’s 4GB internal memory to shuffle play tracks from up to 25 of your favourite albums.

With the ability to process FLAC (up to 192kHz/24bit) or wav (up to 192kHz/24bit) files via USB and via Multiroom, the SC-ALL7CD is a true high resolution system. Two 50kHz Dome Tweeters combine with two Twisted Acoustic Port speakers to generate audio that accurately recreates what was recorded in the studio. At the same time, the High Rigidity Chassis removes unwanted vibrations and distortion, for breathtakingly crisp and clear sound.
The speaker’s slim and flat shape has been designed specifically for convenient placement, making the SC-ALL7CD the perfect accompaniment to any living room shelf, sideboard or bookcase.

Soundbars: Bringing the cinema to your home

Panasonic’s soundbars have been developed to bring an excellent audio experience to your living room while looking subtle and stylish beneath the television. The sleek design of the new range means they can be wall mounted beneath the TV or placed in front without blocking the view.
The new SC-HTB685 and SC-HTB18 soundbars are accompanied by a down-firing subwoofer, wireless in the SC-HTB685. By positioning its driver towards the floor, the additional speaker can produce a much more powerful, rounded bass sound than you would expect from such a compact design.

Connecting the soundbar with the wireless subwoofer means movies, TV shows and music become far more impactful. Clear Dialogue mode in the SC-HTB685 ensures that the all-important vocals are not drowned out while watching a movie. The SC-HTB685 incorporates an IR blaster which relays the signal from the remote control in case the TV’s sensor is blocked.

Connecting to a mobile device via Bluetooth, the soundbars enable users to take complete control of audio output at all times. By pairing a mobile or tablet, users can listen to their favourite music, internet radio or podcasts with the press of a button. The SC-HTB685 also offers convenient one-touch NFC for Android devices.

Micro Systems: Listen to and store your favourite CDs

The new SC-RS52 is available in silver and offers a slim, low-profile design. It provides easy operation and networking capability, incorporating Bluetooth streaming, DAB radio and intuitive controls.

In addition to streaming from a mobile device via Bluetooth, the SC-RS52 also provides a modern solution for managing your CD collection. A standard CD tray is accompanied by 4GB of internal memory and a recording function for storing music digitally. Five CDs can be catalogued in high quality WAV format (25 CDs in MP3 quality) and recalled at the touch of a button. There is also the option to overwrite at any time.

The SC-RS52 turns your old CD collection into a jukebox experience worthy of any modern living room – once stored, albums can be enjoyed individually or you can randomly shuffle through every single song stored on the system.

The SC-RS52 has been developed to generate high quality sound at lower volumes. Two 6.5cm full-range Nano Bamboo speakers incorporate a large magnet and Twisted Acoustic ports for bass levels that far outweigh the SC-RS52’s sleek design. Meanwhile, the 40W power output combines with a 3rd generation Lincs D-Amp and a high rigidity chassis for incredibly low levels of distortion.

The new SC-PM600 offers sleek dimensions and a classic finish, ideal for those who are looking for style and great audio in small spaces such as the bedroom, study or kitchen. Users can listen to music from their CD collection and use Bluetooth connectivity to pair a mobile or tablet to the system and listen to all their favourite music, internet radio or podcasts.

The SC-PM600 features a two-way speaker system which offers impressive bass and clear, high-frequency sound. A motorised CD tray makes it easy to change discs and users can enjoy listening to radio using the AM/FM tuner. For added convenience, the SC-PM600 also offers USB playback.
Contemporary flat design The black SC-HC295 has a contemporary flat design that blends in beautifully with virtually all room interiors. The wall mounting option enables a stylish layout even in rooms with space limitations.

Panasonic announces new VIERA 4K UHD LED LCD TV lineup, designed to offer the ultimate cinematic experience at home

New Panasonic 4K UHD LED LCD TVs are designed to be true to the filmmaker’s vision, with smart TV technology and seamless style.

Panasonic has today announced its new 2016 VIERA 4K Ultra HD (UHD) LED LCD TV range, which offers the latest innovations in 4K UHD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) technologies, plus enhancements in Smart TV features and premium design.

Both 4K UHD and HDR are continuing to redefine what’s possible with TV picture quality. The latest VIERA TVs are designed to make the most of what these technologies have to offer, providing outstanding viewing with Hollywood picture tuning that delivers high-quality, accurate colour reproduction with amazing detail across dark and light scenes.

“Currently, we are on the crest of a golden age of cinematic television, with audiences enjoying silver-screen production values brought to life in the comfort of their homes,” said Maetham Roomi, Senior Product Manager, Home Entertainment, Panasonic. “With the input of Hollywood directors, cinematographers and colourists aligned with the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL), Panasonic’s TVs have been designed to deliver unparalleled detail and nuance through both 4K and HDR technologies. They are faithful to the filmmaker’s vision, immersing the viewer in the ultimate entertainment experience in their living room.”
VIERA Ultra HD Premium and HDR TVs deliver outstanding luminance and fine gradation. The Studio Master HCX+ (Hollywood Cinema Experience plus)/HCX (Hollywood Cinema Experience) chipset with Hollywood picture tuning ensures amazing colour accuracy for both HDR and non-HDR content. Panasonic’s honeycomb-structure Local Dimming technology

delivers spectacular bright highlights and deep blacks with 1,000 nit peak brightness; while the Super Bright Panel Plus delivers crisp and dynamic images.
Bringing Hollywood cinema to the home

The latest generation of Panasonic TVs reproduce the director’s vision more accurately than ever before. The flagship Ultra HD Premium DX900 4K LED LCD TV is Panasonic’s first ‘Ultra HD Premium’ certified TV. It features a brand-new super accurate Studio Master HCX+ chipset and a new LCD panel, delivering outstanding 4K UHD picture quality, just as Hollywood directors intended. The DX900 has also earned 4K certification from a renowned independent quality assurance group, THX Limited – recognition of picture quality and accuracy that few TVs achieve.

The DX900’s beautiful native 4K UHD resolution makes it the perfect partner for Panasonic’s new UHD Blu-ray, the UB900, letting you enjoy streamed 4K content, and also the exciting new Ultra HD Blu-ray disc format. The new line-up also delivers HDR performance further down the range, with the DX740 and DX700 Series also capable of handling High Dynamic Range video.

With so many sources of content available from the TV screen today, plus soon-to-be-launched 4K HDR content, Panasonic makes it easy with the ‘Beyond Smart’ interface powered by Firefox OS, which can be customised to let users quickly reach the content they frequently use. Other convenient features to personalise viewing include ‘TV Anytime’, Twin HD Tuners and easy sharing of content between TV, smartphone and tablet.
Alongside this suite of Smart TV features, the look of the 2016 line-up takes inspiration from interior design, with premium materials used to create elegant frames and pedestals.

Hollywood picture tuning
The DX900, DX740 and DX700 have been tuned in conjunction with the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory to ensure that HDR and SDR playback lives up to the original vision of filmmakers and content creators; while renowned Hollywood colourist Mike Sowa – who has mastered colour for more than 100 movies including Oblivion, Insurgent and Walking with Dinosaurs 3D – was assigned to tune the DX900 to an incredibly fine level.
“Panasonic has long understood that delivering the most accurate TV pictures possible means working with the creative community that actually create the films and TV shows you love to watch,” said Ron Martin, Vice President and Director, Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory.

Professional cinema display
High Dynamic Range on HDR-enabled TVs delivers images much closer to the way your eyes see the real world. Deep blacks are combined with very bright highlights to produce a level of reality not previously possible on a television. TVs must be finely tuned to deliver HDR’s brightness heights without compromising their handling of dark image areas.

Panasonic’s Ultra HD Premium and HDR TVs are all designed to deliver both the bright highs and the deep blacks that a great HDR experience demands, using high-brightness panels and local dimming technologies.

The flagship DX900, with its new honeycomb-structure local dimming technology, delivers superb brightness that makes it possible to reproduce crisp images while maintaining high contrast and details in dark and bright scenes.

The honeycomb design divides the screen into hundreds of ‘zones’ of individually controlled light clusters. These zones are isolated from each other to remove light leakage issues that can lead to a ‘light halo’ effect around bright objects.

The ultra-transmissive LCD cells allow the DX900 to showcase greater brightness peaks (up to 1,000 nit) across a wider portion of the screen than conventional HDR LED LCD TVs. This means consumers see a more vibrant image that really utilises HDR’s potential, also without using significantly more power.
Panasonic’s Super Bright Panel Plus, available across the DX740, DX700, DX640, DX600 and DS610 Series, boosts brightness to make pictures look crisper and more dynamic and delivers excellent color and contrast, via a combination of a new panel-driving system, a panel structure that lets light through more easily, and a highly efficient backlight system.

Precise colour accuracy
Panasonic’s 2016 VIERA TVs are designed to deliver outstanding picture quality true to the source material. With the 2016 range, Panasonic aims to provide the best possible colour accuracy.

Central to the 2016 4K UHD LED LCD VIERA range is the Studio Master HCX+ (DX900) and Studio Master HCX (DX740/700) processor – which provides the flexibility to achieve great colour accuracy even with content that hasn’t been made in HDR.

SDR content is faithfully replicated thanks to an upgraded 3D Look Up Table system. This incorporates a registry of 8,000 reference points which enables up to 40 times more colour accuracy than in a traditional TV.

Previously only possible via expensive professional studio master screens, Panasonic has added a new colour compensation algorithm to the DX900. This further enhances on-screen colour accuracy, meaning the TV can reproduce hues and tones within the Rec. 709 standard space at every level of brightness. The unique ability of the DX900 to harness Panasonic’s technical innovations to creative intentions again owes much to our close working relationships with the film community, forged through the Hollywood Laboratory.

Smart TV innovations
Panasonic’s DX-series UHD TVs are powered by Firefox OS. Thanks to the intuitive and customisable TV home screen powered by Firefox OS, you can quickly access favourite TV channels, apps, videos, websites and content through the TV home screen. Consumers are provided with three standard choices for quick access to Live TV, apps and personal connected devices.

Firefox OS can also be personalised by pinning favourite apps or content to the TV home screen. Panasonic Info Frame combines everything from local weather reports to recommended TV shows, TV listings and your favourite websites, all on a single screen.
A new Firefox OS update, planned for later this year, will provide new ways to discover Web apps and save them to your TV. Firefox OS will feature Web Apps with curated TV, optimised Web content (games, news, VOD, weather and more) and offer users an easy “click to watch” content discovery experience with no installation necessary. This update will also provide a seamless Firefox experience across multiple platforms, including a “send to TV” feature to easily share Web content from iOS or Android devices.

Panasonic’s TV streaming feature changes the way you consume content in your home, allowing you to easily stream broadcasts from your main TV to a second device such as tablets or smartphones in another room. The TV’s Twin HD Tuner lets you enjoy picture in picture functionality; record one program while watching another; or watch one program while streaming another to a smartphone or tablet device. Swipe and Share also makes sharing content between the TV and smart devices over the home network easier than ever.

With TV Anytime and the Panasonic Media Centre App, you can stream live TV shows or movies on your tablet or smartphone wherever you are in the world, via your TV’s tuner or a connected USB hard disk drive. For example, if you are travelling, TV Anytime lets you start watching a movie at home, set the recording before you leave the house, and then continue to watch from where you left off when you reach your hotel.
Harmony through design

The look of the 2016 line-up takes inspiration from interior design, with premium materials used to create elegant frames and pedestals. The new range features adjustable designs and styles that harmonise with the home environment whether they are on or off.
The DX900’s ‘art of light’ design offers an ultra-slender and elegant frame and pedestal to complement the picture quality and fit seamlessly into the most stylish home environments. The DX740, DX700 and DX600 offer a ‘switch design’ pedestal with adjustable legs for versatile TV positioning.

Panasonic unveils Australian-first 4K Ultra HD Premium Blu-ray ready Player

New Blu-ray Player unlocks next-generation content

Panasonic has today unveiled its new flagship DMP-UB900 4K Ultra HD Premium Blu-ray ready Player, supporting next-generation content that reproduces high quality 4K images, exactly as Hollywood filmmakers intended them to look. The DMP-UB900 sits alongside the full 2016 Blu-ray range of new Recorders and Players which also launches today, with easy and flexible recording plus a new stylish design.

The Ultra HD Premium certified DMP-UB900 features new imaging technologies, including 4K high-precision chroma processing and high gradation processing that have been fostered and refined by the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) Blu-ray R&D facility to deliver more natural images with lifelike depth and vivid colours. Ultra HD Blu-ray is the next-generation Blu-ray Disc™ standard that supports 4K, as well as HDR (High Dynamic Range) to present pictures that have a greater brightness range, more contrast and a wider colour response. It achieves true-to-life 4K image reproduction with high frame rates of up to 60p and incorporates the BT.2020 wide colour gamut to further enhance colour reproduction. This means images look much more like the cinematic experience, and more accurately reflect the director’s original intentions.

“As demand for 4K video continues to expand, the DMP-UB900 offers a new video viewing experience for those who demand uncompromised quality in picture and sound,” said Maetham Roomi, Senior Product Manager, Home Entertainment, Panasonic. “Not only is it certified as Ultra HD Premium, it reproduces images with cinema-level quality at home, using unique Panasonic technologies to deliver images that are faithful to the original. By raising video and audio quality, the DMP-UB900 means you can experience an overwhelming new world of pictures and sounds.”

Bringing the cinema to your home

The DMP-UB900 offers dramatically improved audio quality. It is equipped with an optimised, large-capacity power supply unit and features many select high quality audio parts and components in its audio circuits for rich sound expression. In addition, it supports high-resolution audio formats such as DSD, ALAC, FLAC and WAV.

The DMP-UB900 renders fine details like never before, thanks to its high 4K resolution; provides life-like depth effects and vivid colours through high contrast between dark and light areas; and always displays sharp and beautiful images enhanced by smooth motion.
The attention to detail continues in design and ergonomics. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player has a stylish design with a ‘glass cut’ finish and a mirrored front panel to match any flat panel TV, and a high quality dot-matrix display.

The remote control carries backlighting to allow easy operation even in a dark room – perfect for home theatre systems. Also a great touch for dark room environments is the remote’s Dimmer button, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the Player’s display to match the amount of ambient light.
Panasonic plans for the DMP-UB900 to support 4K VOD (Video on Demand) services, to give users greater enjoyment of 4K content.
