Technics today announced the launch of two new noise-cancelling wireless in-ear earbuds, the EAH-AZ80 and the EAH-AZ60M2 – designed specifically for people seeking superb audio, style and comfort.
The new models allow users to express their own personal style, while enjoying impeccable sound quality in every part of their lives. Technics has drawn upon 55 years of experience to ensure the audio quality is pure, focusing on every aspect of sound – from the driver and acoustic structure to the mechanical structure and digital signal processing – so listeners can hear every detail. What’s more, the flagship EAH-AZ80 features a new 10mm, free-edge aluminium diaphragm, delivering the highest sound quality ever achieved from Technics’ true wireless earbuds.

Technics Signature Clear Sound – Now Wireless
Taking advantage of its Hi-Fi sound engineering philosophy and technical expertise cultivated over a 55-year history, Technics’ True Wireless earbuds are for those who demand high audio quality from every listening experience. The flagship EAH-AZ80 model features a new 10mm, free-edge aluminium diaphragm, extending high and low frequency response while reducing unwanted resonance and distortion.
The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 support High-Resolution Audio Quality with Bluetooth® and Lossless Digital to Analogue Control (LDAC) technology[i], delivering a wide dynamic range with fast response and high definition.
The unique acoustic box design found in both models houses an acoustic control chamber to optimise airflow for natural-sounding vocals and other mid-ranges, and powerful bass. A harmoniser smooths out trebles and creates a dynamic range of sound while minimising distortion. The result is rich, immersive and expansive sound with smooth and detailed highlights.
Industry-Leading Immersive Noise Cancelling
To combat noisy environments and allow immersion in music or meetings, both the EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 models feature industry-leading[ii] Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology. A digital software filter and feedforward microphone work together to suppress noise from outside the earbuds, while a feedback microphone paired with an analogue hardware filter inhibits noise from inside the earbud. This combination allows noise-cancelling levels to be adjusted to the surrounding environment, with no-latency processing meaning you won’t miss a beat.
The level of noise cancelling can vary greatly from person to person due to differences in ear shape and other factors. For best results, use the included earpiece size that fits you best, then use the Technics Audio Connect app to finetune the effect for your ears.

Multipoint Connection For Up To Three Devices Simultaneously
Connection is key for those ‘dialling in’ on-the-go, managing meetings, calls and music across multiple devices. The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 support multipoint connections for up to three Bluetooth® devices simultaneously, allowing users to switch between sources seamlessly.
JustMyVoiceTM Technology
Both models are equipped with JustMyVoiceTM technology, which utilises Technics’ unique signal processing technology to analyse your voice signal and suppress any surrounding noise so that your voice is captured clearly.
Voice detection microphones are partnered with two Micro-Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) microphones that actively isolate your voice and reduce surrounding noise with beamforming technology for a clear call, even in noisy environments. A total of eight microphones – four for each earbud –support more comfortable, natural phone conversations.
Furthermore, JustMyVoiceTM technology has evolved to offer improved ambient noise reduction in any environment, allowing phone calls to be heard clearly on windy days or in noisy coffee shops. The voice detection signal and adaptive noise suppression feature – which automatically adjusts to the noise level – delivers clear voices without muffled speech.
Single Bud Operation
Users can operate controls using only the left or the right earbud, and even assign specific actions to each for greater personalisation. Within the Technics Audio Connect App, users can freely adjust the touch and hold; and single, double and triple tap actions (such as volume control, skip forward/back, ambient or noise cancelling mode).
Ambient Sound Modes
The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 have two unique ambient sound modes: “Natural Ambient” and “Attention”. Natural Ambient Mode captures all surrounding noise, allowing users to listen to music or talk on the telephone while paying attention to their surroundings. Attention Mode captures sounds in the human voice frequency range, ensuring that voices nearby are heard – such as announcements at an airport or a family member’s voice at home. At the same time, this mode reduces other, unwanted external noises. Using the Technics Audio Connect app, users can adjust exactly how much external sound is heard in both modes using an innovative slider interface.
Long Battery Life
A long battery life means that the EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 models can operate all day.
They support:
- Seven and a half hours of music playback without noise cancellation (25 hours with the cradle)
- Seven hours of music playback in active noise-cancelling mode (24 hours with the cradle)
- Four hours of call time with both active noise-cancelling and JustMyVoiceTM turned on (13.5 hours with the cradle).
The earbuds are also equipped with a wear sensor that pauses playback when it detects the earbuds have been removed from the ear, and automatically resumes audio when they are put back in. This sensor also prevents accidental playback and unexpected power consumption.
Smart Features: Qi Charging, Customisation via App, Water Resistance (IPX4)
With newly added Qi Wireless Charge support, the earbuds can be charged by simply placing them on a wireless charger.
The Technics Audio Connect app for smartphones makes it easy to configure and control the wireless earbuds, offering voice assistant compatibility[iii] and customisation of noise cancellation and sound mode settings. New app features include a check battery function, a super bass equaliser, and the ability to toggle between voice and sound effect guidance. Both models include Alexa built-in.
The earbuds are prepared for any conditions, boasting IPX4 water-resistant performance, ensuring they are undamaged when splashed with water from any direction.
All-day Comfort Design
The earbuds are designed to be a constant companion during busy days, with the shape of the EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 ensuring that they remain comfortably in place for a multitude of activities. The premium EAH-AZ80 features a specially shaped housing that aligns with the ear’s concha for improved stability, without the pressure applied by conventional earbud designs.
The EAH-AZ60M2 has an All-Day Comfort Fit Design with an expanded contact area that feels more comfortable and secure. Technics silicone earpieces combine materials of varying hardness for a secure fit, high-quality audio and superior sound insulation. Users can choose from seven different earpiece sizes ranging from XXS to XL to find their best fit.
