LUMIX is on the hunt for keen filmmakers to demonstrate their creative expertise with a $20k winners’ prize pool on offer
Panasonic has unveiled its first ever LUMIX 72-hour filmmaking challenge, inviting Australian filmmakers to showcase their creativity, talent and storytelling expertise. Welcoming all entrants, from passionate amateurs to hybrid content creators, the competition will give 10 filmmakers just 72 hours to script, film, edit and submit an original short film.
To be part of the inaugural “LUMIX 72-hour filmmaking challenge”, entrants must first create a 30-60 second video to demonstrate what makes them the perfect candidate for the challenge. Ten successful applicants will then be loaned the newly-launched LUMIX S5IIX and supporting equipment to create a three-to six-minute short film and trailer. The film must include a special theme that will be unveiled to the shortlist simultaneously at a video briefing to kick off the contest.
Applications for the shortlist are now open and will close on 26 June 2023.
Following the 72-hour challenge, finalists will be invited to present their work to a judging panel including leading industry professionals at an exclusive showcase event in Sydney. The films will be judged by criteria that will recognise creativity and originality, cinematography and the smooth and unique integration of the theme into the short film.
The overall winner of the 72-hour challenge will receive a prize package including more than $10,000 RRP of LUMIX imaging products plus $5,000 in cash. A People’s Choice Award will also be determined by a live poll during the event, with the recipient enjoying a prize package of more than $5,000 RRP in LUMIX imaging products. Finalists will also receive flights to Sydney, tickets to the showcase event, and a night’s accommodation.[i]

Technics today announced the launch of two new noise-cancelling wireless in-ear earbuds, the EAH-AZ80 and the EAH-AZ60M2 – designed specifically for people seeking superb audio, style and comfort.
The new models allow users to express their own personal style, while enjoying impeccable sound quality in every part of their lives. Technics has drawn upon 55 years of experience to ensure the audio quality is pure, focusing on every aspect of sound – from the driver and acoustic structure to the mechanical structure and digital signal processing – so listeners can hear every detail. Multipoint Connection For Up To Three Devices Simultaneously
Connection is key for those ‘dialling in’ on-the-go, managing meetings, calls and music across multiple devices. The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 support multipoint connections for up to three Bluetooth® devices simultaneously, allowing users to switch between sources seamlessly.
JustMyVoiceTM Technology
Both models are equipped with JustMyVoiceTM technology, which utilises Technics’ unique signal processing technology to analyse your voice signal and suppress any surrounding noise so that your voice is captured clearly.
Voice detection microphones are partnered with two Micro-Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) microphones that actively isolate your voice and reduce surrounding noise with beamforming technology for a clear call, even in noisy environments. A total of eight microphones – four for each earbud –support more comfortable, natural phone conversations.
Furthermore, JustMyVoiceTM technology has evolved to offer improved ambient noise reduction in any environment, allowing phone calls to be heard clearly on windy days or in noisy coffee shops. The voice detection signal and adaptive noise suppression feature – which automatically adjusts to the noise level – delivers clear voices without muffled speech.
Single Bud Operation
Users can operate controls using only the left or the right earbud, and even assign specific actions to each for greater personalisation. Within the Technics Audio Connect App, users can freely adjust the touch and hold; and single, double and triple tap actions (such as volume control, skip forward/back, ambient or noise cancelling mode).
Ambient Sound Modes
The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 have two unique ambient sound modes: “Natural Ambient” and “Attention”. Natural Ambient Mode captures all surrounding noise, allowing users to listen to music or talk on the telephone while paying attention to their surroundings. Attention Mode captures sounds in the human voice frequency range, ensuring that voices nearby are heard – such as announcements at an airport or a family member’s voice at home. At the same time, this mode reduces other, unwanted external noises. Using the Technics Audio Connect app, users can adjust exactly how much external sound is heard in both modes using an innovative slider interface.
Long Battery Life
A long battery life means that the EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 models can operate all day.
They support:
Seven and a half hours of music playback without noise cancellation (25 hours with the cradle)
Seven hours of music playback in active noise-cancelling mode (24 hours with the cradle)
Four hours of call time with both active noise-cancelling and JustMyVoiceTM turned on (13.5 hours with the cradle).
The earbuds are also equipped with a wear sensor that pauses playback when it detects the earbuds have been removed from the ear, and automatically resumes audio when they are put back in. This sensor also prevents accidental playback and unexpected power consumption.
Smart Features: Qi Charging, Customisation via App, Water Resistance (IPX4)
With newly added Qi Wireless Charge support, the earbuds can be charged by simply placing them on a wireless charger.
The Technics Audio Connect app for smartphones makes it easy to configure and control the wireless earbuds, offering voice assistant compatibility[iii] and customisation of noise cancellation and sound mode settings. New app features include a check battery function, a super bass equaliser, and the ability to toggle between voice and sound effect guidance. Both models include Alexa built-in.
The earbuds are prepared for any conditions, boasting IPX4 water-resistant performance, ensuring they are undamaged when splashed with water from any direction.
All-day Comfort Design
The earbuds are designed to be a constant companion during busy days, with the shape of the EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 ensuring that they remain comfortably in place for a multitude of activities. The premium EAH-AZ80 features a specially shaped housing that aligns with the ear’s concha for improved stability, without the pressure applied by conventional earbud designs.
The EAH-AZ60M2 has an All-Day Comfort Fit Design with an expanded contact area that feels more comfortable and secure. Advanced technology delivers fast, smooth, close and comfortable shave
The ES-LS9A Shaver integrates six advanced Japanese blades designed to tackle all beard types. Based on the art of Samurai sword-making traditions, the blades are constructed with surgical-grade stainless steel to ensure that even after years of use, they maintain their sharpness while minimising irritation and redness to the skin. The two new thick stubble blades coated with titanium, two finish blades, and two lift blades are designed to cut more hair in a single pass. The tapered blade tips increase the height of the beard capture area and ensure that long, flat-lying and tricky hairs are handled with ease. The ES-LS9A’s durable inner blades are nano-sharpened to a 30-degree angle, allowing cuts to be made as close to the root as possible for a smooth, irritation-free wet or dry shave.
The ES-LS9A builds upon the success of its predecessors, featuring a 22D Flexible Shaver Head with a new floating blade mechanism, so that users can seamlessly follow the contours of their face and neck. The mechanism moves the six blades in 22 independent directions – both vertically and horizontally – so each stroke covers a greater area and cuts quickly and cleanly, reducing the overall burden on the skin. The ES-LS9A’s Responsive Beard Sensor Technology precisely detects facial hair thickness and density at a rate of 220 times per second. This revolutionary technology allows the Shaver to boost power where beard growth is heavier, reducing the amount of pressure placed on the skin. Available in a smart matte black finish – complementing any bathroom counter with its simplistically sleek design – the ES-LS9A also comes with an Auto Cleaning and Charging Station to thoroughly clean and sterilise the Shaver after every use. The dock automatically removes any beard clippings or sebum caught within the Shaver while charging the unit simultaneously.
In addition to the ES-LS9A, Panasonic has also announced the release of its ES-LT2B and ES-LT4B Shavers. Both models feature 39,000 cross-cutting actions per minute to power through thick beard growth and minimise skin irritation. They also feature an ergonomic design with three independently moving blades that precisely follow facial contours and provide a gentler shave. The ES-LT4B also has a 2D head with directional (left and right) movement to reduce the number of strokes needed for a close shave. Consumers can enjoy stylish design and a modern colour palette, with the ES-LT2B available in matte black or white, and the ES-LT4B featuring red or blue colour options.
